Dunhuang city is both an economically underdeveloped areas and fragile ecological environment area where economic aggregate is small, ecological environment is fragile, and economy development task is onerous. With profound historical culture and unique natural landscape, Dunhuang city is a special and important region in gansu province and northwest china. It is a key problem for the future development of Dunhuang city that how to speed up the economic development, while protecting the ecological environment, and realize sustainable development In the new opportunities. Practice has proved that developing ecological industry is the inevitable choice for rapid and healthy economic development of Dunhuang city.On the basis of the put forward of industry sustainable development and under the background of the disadvantages of the traditional industry development seriously, the government put forward construction of the ecological city and ecological demonstration area, the development of circular economy, implementation of the ecological civilization theory, the new silk road economic belt is put forward and the second round of the western great and regional economic development in transition, this paper generalizes the research of ecological industries both in domestic and foreign, determined the research contents and analysis framework is worked out in this paper.Second, the concept, connotation, the basic characteristics and types of ecological industry are expounded according to a large number of relevant literature in this paper. Based on industry ecology, ecological niche, key species, sustainable development, circular economy and Wu Lv coordinate theory, I analyzed the ecological industry development present situation and the characteristics of the industry development of dunhuang city, and points out that the favorable factors and unfavorable factors of developing ecological industry. At the same time, this paper uses the appraisal model of regional economy and industrial ecology coupling, and analyzes the development of ecological process and the present situation of regional economic development in Dunhuang city and related relations. Energy analysis method is also applied to the analysis of the economic system has carried on the comprehensive system of Dunhuang city, the ecological economic system is decomposed into social, economic and environmental system. Using different indexes to analysis the three subsystems, this paper evaluated the city’s economic development situation, development model and sustainable development potential. And the paper researched the evolution characteristics and the major influencing factors of the economic vulnerability and analysis of the main influence factors by principal component analysis. On the basis of comprehensive analysis and combined with industry development present situation, I proposed ecological industry development and the overall goals of Dunhuang city, and carries on the reasonable layout of ecological industry, put forward the entire allocation of "one point, two subsidiaries, two axis, three area".Finally, I put forward the emphasis of ecological industry development of dunhuang city area in this paper, and the ecological tourism, ecological culture industry, ecological agriculture, ecological industrial park and the development of new energy industry are expounded.
