Since the1990s, as the regional industrial transfer is in the period of rapid development, it has become the focus of the many economists and attracted great concern. However, most studies are based on the traditional industrial transfer theory and ignore spatial factors. Thus the spatial mobility of factors of production was a lack of considerations so that it failed to explain the nature of regional industrial transfer effectively. Recently, spatial factors ignored in the past brought into the framework of economic analysis with the rise of spatial economics. Under increasing returns to scale and imperfect competition, the inherent power to push industrial spatial layout was discussed to provide a more perfect theoretical basis for explaining formation of industrial agglomeration in reality. In this article, under the framework of spatial economics, the main factors affecting industrial transfer in the eastern areas are discussed from industrial agglomeration and dispersal with spatial equilibrium analysis. This article argues that spatial cost, market size, wage level and industry relevance are the main factors that enterprises decide to transfer to other region or not. To central and western region, conditions of undertaking industrial transfer lie in the improvement of transportation networks, enhancement of labor’s skill, expansion of market potential and reformation of policies. Through the analysis of factors affecting the industrial transfer with spatial economics, the paths of industrial transfer from eastern areas are presented, including market-expanding industrial transfer, clustered industrial transfer as well as labor-oriented industrial transfer. At the same time, local employment and level of income and corporate profits are increased by undertaking industrial transfer. Finally, based on the foregoing analysis, the result that there has not been a large-scale industrial transfer from eastern coastal areas to central and western areas is got. And there is a trend that eastern enterprises are starting to transfer to central and western areas. Thus, some recommendations are brought up to enhance this trend and the ability to undertake industrial transfer for central and western areas. For example, market potential should be exploited and residential income should be increased. And spatial cost among regions should be reduced by accelerating the construction of transportation network.
