The Research Of The Urbanization Of Migrant Workers In China

Migrant workers are the migrant workers who are from rural areas to urban areas.They are the people who have rural household registration and transfer to the city to work. Furthermore, migrant workers refers that the household registration is still retained in the countryside, but they are not fully engaged in the traditional agricultural production activities, or have been out of production and business activities in rural areas basically. They work in all kinds of ownership enterprise, personal business or some service industry work. Since the reform and opening up, they promote construction of the city and make great contribution for economic development. As the labor force, they are important for the urbanization.Migrant workers urbanization refers that the farmers who live in rural areas transfer to urban and adapt to the city life. Migrant workers become the citizens in the identity, status and concept of value.The urbanization of migrant workers is helpful to solve the segmentation problem, enhance the integration development of urban and rural areas. It is related to the development of urbanization and modernization. Migrant workers urbanization is the effective way to solve the problem of marginalization and uphold the legitimate rights. It is the inevitable requirement to build a socialist harmonious society. Migrant workers urbanization is the trend with social development. But the urbanization of migrant workers is very slow in China. There are many obstacles in the process such as problems about institution reformation, which not only restrict the process of urbanization, but also have adverse effect to the building of harmonious society. Therefore, it is theoretical and practical to do research on migrant workers urbanization.This paper is divided into fifth parts, the first part mainly introduces the research background, significance, methods, and some domestic and foreign theory; the second part discusses the concept and significance of migrant workers urbanization and analyzes the historical basis, necessity and feasibility. Then it expounds the current situation of migrant workers urbanization and discusses the obstacles from the point of urbanization, institutional factors, ideas, the cost and the quality of migrant workers; The third part does empirical research on influencing factors of migrant workers urbanization by the push-pull theory from the perspective of the urbanization force.This part apply principal component analysis method and the logarithmic regression method to measure each factor; the fourth part discusses the countermeasures to solve the problems of migrant workers urbanization. This paper considers that external factors and internal factors effect the realization of migrant workers urbanization.From the point of external factors, firstly, we should promote the process of urbanization and improves the living environment. Secondly, it is necessary to reform the household registration institution, land institution, employment institution, social security institution and education institution so as to provide the institution safeguard for the migrant workers urbanization. Thirdly, it is important to reduce the migrant workers’ settlement costs and change the relative concept of migrant workers urbanization. The internal factors mean that migrant workers should enhance their own quality including cultural quality, ideas and awareness of self-right maintenance. The fifth part is the conclusion. The combination of external factors and migrant workers’ quality is the essential condition to realize migrant workers urbanization.
