Mold manufacturing is high production cost yet high value add business, however, when market competition is more heated, customers have become more and more demanding. Since end products are upgraded rapidly to be more mobile with smaller form factors, on time delivery and superior quality are now the major competitiveness measurement in the mold industry. Therefore, a study of the mold manufacturers quality management is extremely important.YMS Co. suffered from all different kinds of issues in the quality management, which have become the bottleneck to its further development. This thesis is written based on the real situation in YMS from two major aspects. Firstly, based on the analysis and exploration in the design and production processes, an IT quality management system was established with sufficient consideration of the rules of design and production function needs. The system enables a streamlined information sharing among all departments. Those departments have fully utilized the functional modules which increased quality control capability significantly. Secondly, at operation level, according to ISO9001quality management system requirement(full participation and continuous Kaizen), a comprehensive, feasible and effective process was established. This includes Quality Control Circle Kaizen events conducted by small teams using PDCA model and5W analytical tools. An integrated solution from these two aspects helped YMS realized the goal of improving its overall profitability. This can also be applicable to other mold manufacturers who can benchmark and enhance their own quality management. |
