| After the first decade of21st century, human being society has entered into an important period in which technological innovation continually emerges. Rescores is increasingly prominent in the economic and social development. In such a background, designing and building a corporation’s R&D organization structure is actually an important way to integrate and utilize its rescores. According to such a context, making reasonable arrangements for company’s R&D organization structure is becoming a key factor that influences and determines a company’s technological innovation performance. The current researches show that companies’R&D organization structures are mainly exhibits two trends:centralization and decentralization. However, there are no consistent arguments in existed literatures whether the centralization or decentralization R&D organization structure promotes a company’s technological innovation performance. This paper conducts an empirical study on the relationship between R&D organization structure and innovation performance based on those hi-tech listed companies in china. Furthermore, we also introduce two variables including of organizational slack and diversification, which can reflect the status of resources, and separately analyze their moderating effects on the relationship between R&D organization structure and innovation performance. The result shows that decentralization R&D boost Chinese hi-tech corporations’ innovation performance, and this relationship is positively moderated by unabsorbed organizational slack and product diversification, while absorbed organizational slack and market diversification do not exert any moderating effect on the relationship between decentralization R&D structure and innovation performance through the empirical analysis. The significance of the research is not only reconciling the competing arguments, but also offering theoretical guidance for Chinese firms to choose R&D organization mode. |
