Nowadays, even though Chinese construction industry is developing rapidly, but the excessive growth of construction companies exacerbates the competition in the construction market. It is an inevitable trend that the great construction companies will be more and more stronger, and the worse one will close down, merger and acquisition. If a construction company wants to survive and develop in the construction market competition, it will not only focus on the operating management, but also make sure all projects that they do become success. A successful project can achieve the goals of time, quality, cost, and can bring economic benefit and social effectiveness to the construction company. It also can help the construction company to establish a good brand image. The profit interspace of building construction project is the smallest one among other same dimensions construction projects. A Building-construction project success depends on the standard of project management which the project management team do. As the leader of project management team, building construction project manager is the top manager, commander and duty officer of building construction project, have crucial adjective on the Building-construction project success. Hiring a Building-construction project candidate who can truly competent for the post of manager, become the key to a successful Building-construction project.At present, Chinese construction companies for the construction project manager’s selection process is not standardized, the selection criteria is not reasonable, and the choose mode is not reasonable. Basic on above three issues, this paper put forward a construction project manager selection mode which based on the competency model. Collating, analyzing a large number of related documents, based on the proposed construction project manager of the generic competency model to investigate the competency-based construction project manager selection. This thesis uses the case of JG construction company, according to the company’s strategic objectives and architectural characteristics of the project, determine the competency model of JG construction company project manager. And then this paper combines theory and practice, applicant AHP and fuzzy matter-element analysis method to select construction project manager. Research for the selection of construction companies’ construction project manager provides a theoretical guidance and operational demonstration.
