As to survive and develop in the cut-throat competition of markets, the modern enterprise needs to amplify its advantages in fierce competition. However, for a manufacturing company, its business should be close tied with the achievement of the goals in reducing inventory occupation, accelerating cash flow, shortening delivery and satisfying with customer demand in maximize. With the rapid development of globalization and information technology, the application of supply chain management becomes common. As the beginning of value creation, the materials supply mode should be moved from traditional management to new one to meet with the requirement of healthy development under the condition of supply chain. The competitions among modern enterprises have become the competitions of supply management effects.In view of existing material supply situation in Dalian Locomotive, and based on the collected theories like purchasing management, centralized purchasing, supplier management, supply chain management and storage management, the paper adopts the analysis methods like comparative analysis and ABC analysis, etc. to analyze the problems in material management of Dalian Locomotive. For the most important purchase management and inventory management in the enterprise material management system, it analyzed the existing problems one by one from the comprehensive aspects, and gives the suggestions for dealing with in line with local conditions. From the global view, it constructs Dalian Locomotive material management system in macro, and discusses the relevant theoretical issues in comprehensive. Besides, against the main lost link and the weak link in current management, it put forward the improvement measures from four aspects and insurance of the improvement measures in an orderly way.The research of this paper is suited to the actual situation of the company. It has the certain guiding significance for solving the similar problems in future and provides some references in material supply management to other similar enterprises at the same time.
