An Empirical Study Of Chongqing Foreign Trade And Economic Growth

Domestic and foreign economists have made a lot of research about whether foreign trade plays a role in the economic development of a country or region. Many theories support that the development of foreign trade can promote economic growth and regional development. At the same time, some economists think foreign trade does not necessarily promote economic growth, but to occur under certain conditions, sometimes even under conditions that impede the economic development. This article focuses on the foreign trade in economic growth function research. Through the description of the Chongqing City Foreign Trade and economic growth in the status quo and empirical analysis between foreign trade or the trade structure and economic growth, we can get how finally to put forward Chongqing city to promote the development of foreign trade and trade structure adjustment, which will promote the economic growth countermeasure proposal.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is an introduction, mainly elaborated the background and significance of topics, the research methods and thesis framework design. The second part mainly introduced the relationship between external trade and economic growth theories, domestic and foreign research review on this issue as well as for the Chongqing city research. The third part is the economic growth and foreign trade development status of1978-2011years of Chongqing. With the statistics of Chongqing to comparative the Chongqing’s economic growth and foreign trade development with other areas, we get that the Chongqing Economic growth and the development of foreign trade is in the national average lever. Chongqing Foreign Trade and commodity structure of manufactured goods based on industrial manufactured goods. The pattern of trade of primary products is mainly in general trade. The primary products trade is the inter-industry trade and the industrial manufactured goods trade is the intra-industry trade. The regional structure of trade is relatively stable. The fourth part is the analysis of the first Chongqing city foreign trade contribution to economic growth, and establishing econometric models, empirical analysis of the relationship between foreign trade and economic growth of Chongqing city and the relationship between the structure of foreign trade and economic growth, the Chongqing foreign trade development and the improvement of international trade structure is the cause of economic growth, but to improve the economic growth is not the expansion of foreign trade and foreign trade structure of reason. The fifth part is to introduce the research conclusions of this paper and puts forward the related countermeasure proposal, that Chongqing city should increase the investment in human capital, improve the efficiency of human capital, encourage and support enterprises. R&D activities, enhance the competitiveness of high-end products, promote industrial upgrading, improve trade structure, and create a favorable external environment, play an import and export trade to promote economic growth.
