An Empirical Study On Poverty Alleviation Of Tourism With Community Participation From The Perspective Of Tourism Anthropology

With the development history of nearly thirty years, tourism has obtainedgreat achievements, which makes a significant contribution to national economicdevelopment and social progress. At the same time, the driving effect of tourismprovides a way for less developed areas to get rid of poverty. Besides, the theory ofsustainable tourism development and stakeholder theory emphasize the fairness ofdistribution of tourism interests, which provides a powerful theoretical basis forprotecting the interests of local poverty people. However, that community residentsparticipate in poverty alleviation can aim at the core of poverty alleviation objectdirectly, which is an effective way of achieving the goal of poverty alleviation. Inaddition, if the development of tourism destination relies on community and deals withthe relationship between community participation and tourism development well, itwill develop tourism on the premise of protecting the local tourism resources andrealize the win-win purpose of economic value and social value. Based on the idea, thisthesis makes a further study and discussion about the tourism with communityparticipation from a new perspective, namely tourism anthropology.Based on the idea of social participation in tourism, the purpose of this thesis is todo an empirical research on the development status of local tourism of communityresidents’ participation in Nine-village Valley scenic spot. Moreover, the thesis sumsup the success of this pattern, and puts forward some existing problems of it. Finally,the author proposes some related suggestions and measures with guidance andoperability.The thesis will make an analysis from the following aspects. Firstly, the writer will sum up the theory about the pattern of community participation in tourism povertyalleviation, including participation content, participation significance and the analysisof participation model. Consequently, it provides guidance for the design ofquestionnaire and the analysis of existing problems.Secondly, the thesis will do an empirical study about the pattern of communityparticipation in tourism poverty alleviation in Nine-village Valley scenic spot. In thispart, the writer will combine the way of questionnaire and random interviews. Throughthe investigation of residents’ satisfaction about the mode of local tourism development,changes of income and distribution of interests, the author obtains relevant data andsummarizes the concept of participation consciousness, updated ideas and payingattention to the interests of community in Nine-village Valley scenic spot, as well asthe achievements of joint-stock system management.Thirdly, according to the negative data of questionnaire, the thesis will point outsome current problems. The major one is the reduction of residents’ autonomy,imbalance of interest distribution and community residents’ vacancies indecision-making management. In the long run, these potential troubles will affect thecommunity residents’ enthusiasm, and impede the healthy and sustainable developmentof community, even the whole scenic spot.At last, According to the actual situation of Nine-village Valley scenic spot,combining tourism anthropology theory, stakeholder theory and sustainabledevelopment theory, the thesis puts forward some suggestions about strengtheningcommunity capacity building, constructing legal guarantee mechanism that communityresidents can participate in effectively, and creating decision-making channels ofcommunity participation.The main innovation of this thesis is to combine community participation andtourism poverty alleviation from the perspective of tourism anthropology, and make anempirical study on the pattern of community participation in tourism in Nine-villageValley scenic spot. Furthermore, on content, it makes up the attention of subjects’interests during the tourism development.
