The rapid development of Jiaozuo Yuntai Mountain scenic area is an epitome ofthe development of China’s tourism industry, which allows Jiaozuo rapidly transforma "coal city" into an ecological tourism city, creating the "Jiaozuo phenomenon","Yuntai Mountain speed" and the "Yuntai Mountain effect". With the rapiddevelopment of tourism, tourism has gradually expanded the scale. Tourism producesincreasing social impact, economic impact, environmental impact and cultural impacton the local, causing neighboring residents’ corresponding psychological changes andattitude reaction and forming the perception of tourism impact which will havelong-time influence on local residents. Whether neighborhood residents’ support ornot plays a significant and profound effect on the progress, planning and managementof scenic areas, and is vital for the sustainable development of tourism. Under thedevelopment of scenic spots, contractor must protect the local residents’ interest andbenefit local residents. I write it from the tourism impact---sociological point of view. The paper focus on the development of Yuntai Mountain has social impact on localresidents, respectively, in positive perspective and negative perspective. positiveimpacts contains: the development of scenic spots promotes the local residents, especially shore villagers’ obvious industrial structure optimization, not only increaseshore rural villagers’ income, but effectively stimulates local economic development, enhances the quality of the local residents, improves the local living environment, alsovigorously promote the construction of new countryside and effectively promote thelocal dweller’s employment. Negative impacts mainly focus on the wideningimbalance in regional development; destruction of the ecological environment, resulting in damage to the resources, seriously interference with the lives of localresidents and the uneven distribution of benefits; social and cultural impact on thelocal residents; leading to the degradation of moral values of local residents; leadingto the destruction of historical and cultural sites of scenic countryside. Throughinterviewing with managers and local residents (shore rural villagers), the authormakes a conclusion that development of scenic areas benefits local resident’s economic interests, meanwhile damages the scenic spots’ environment and ecologicalbalance. What’s worse, tourism poses overwhelming damage to limit collectiveculture. No doubt, positive impacts are noticeable, however, negative effects worrythe author. When developers integrate the scenic resource and deeply develop itsinterests, they not only consider the sustainability of the resources, but also fully takeinto account the interests of the indigenous dwellers. When they promote indigenouscultural resources, they must respect the original native culture and resources. Only inthis way can we make the scenic spots’ development and local residents’tourism-related industries move forward together and develop coordinately.
