Research On The Relationship Between The Large Coal Enterprise’s It Capability And It’s Performance

With the fast global economics’ integration, technical renewal, aggravating the marketcompetition, large coal enterprise’s information technology capability(IT capability) as one ofthe company’s core competitiveness. The relationship between the large coal enterprise’s ITcapability and firm performance has become a hot research problem, but the limited researchhas not achieved the same conclusion.Based on this background, the core issue is the relationship between the large coalenterprise’s IT capability and it’s performance, introducing environmental dynamics as amoderator variable. Coal enterprises’ information technology can be divided into ITinfrastructure capability, IT operation capability and IT development capability and it’sperformance was divided into two aspects, including market performance and financialperformance. In this dissertation, we concrete the concept model of relationship between ITcapability and firm performance. And put forward the corresponding hypothesis, design thequestionnaire.During the process of data processing, we mainly used exploratory factoranalysis(EFA), confirmatory factor analysis(CFA), correlation analysis and multiple linearregression to verify hypotheses in the model. According to the results of empirical study, therecome to some important conclusions as following:(1)Coal enterprise’s IT capability can be divided into IT infrastructure capability, IToperation capability and IT development capability.And these three components withcovariant relations.(2)IT capability has a significant impact on firm performance. Specifically, IT operationcapability and IT development capability all positively affect firm performance(both marketperformance and financial performance). While IT infrastructure capability dose not have asignificant effect on firm performance. (3)The environmental dynamism plays a regulatory role between IT capability and firmperformance. Specifically, environmental dynamism plays a significant positive regulatoryrole in the relationship between IT operation capability and firm performance. Meanwhile, theenvironmental dynamism also plays a significant positive regulatory role in the relationshipbetween IT development capability and firm performance. The more rapidly environmentchanges, the more obvious positive effect of IT capabilities on firm performance.The results have important guiding significance for the large coal enterprises to buildtheir own IT capabilities，assess the value of the enterprise IT capabilities and use their ITcapabilities to improve firm performance.
