| China’s economy has improved a lot in recent years, not only the volume of its exporthas been increased, but also the structure of trade has optimized constantly. However, itstill remains a question whether the technology content of China’s export trade has beenimproved. In the article, we first calculate the technology content of China’s exports from1996to2010, then make a detailed analysis on technology content of China’s exportsthrough comparing it with developed countries and emerging developing countries. Onthe basis of the above studies, we make an in-depth analysis on the technology level ofChina’s export trade on the perspective of influence factors. This paper, we use method of Du Xiuli and Wang Dawei’s(2007) for inference tocalculate the level of the SITC three bit code of260kinds of product technology content, then make comparisons between China and developed countries and other emergingdeveloping countries on the perspectives of ETC and ETCI. The results indicate thatChina’s ETC has improved a lot,but it still stays at a lower level and shows a weak trendof convergence to the level of the world as a whole. Additionally, China’s ETCI has notimproved significantly, sometimes it shows a weak trend of declining. Comparing toother countries, China’s ETCI shows a very tender trends. Finally, this paper established the dynamic panel data model based on the statistics ofsample countries to study the relationship between technical level of a country’s exporttrade and factor endowments. Through several layers of empirical analysis, we get themain results. Firstly, labor, physical capital, natural resources, human capital and R&Dare the most important and direct factors of the technological level of export trade;secondly, national scale is not a significantly influencial factor; thirdly, FDI and importtrade, which are representatives of the reflection of external technology diffusion, do not promote the technological level of export trade either. Based on the analysis, we putforward several suggestions pertinently. |
