Empirical Research On The Relationship Between The Openness And Competitiveness Of Transportation Service Trade Of China

The opening to the outside world is a basic national policy of China’s long-termadherence. For the past many years, with the continuous progress of opening up to the outsideworld, China’s transportation services trade has made rapid development, internationalcompetitiveness of China’s transportation services trade has been significantly improved. Atpresent, China’s transport sector is in the critical period of full liberalization after the end oftransition period to accession to the WTO, during this period, how to accurate understand ofthe size of China’s transport sector openness, to ensure enhance the competitiveness ofChina’s transport to the maximum extent is urgent the key issues to address. This is thestarting point of this study.Based on the meaning of competitiveness of transport services trade and basic theory,this paper analyzed the current situation of international competitiveness of our transportservices trade by interrelated indexes and basis on Principal Component Analysis, obtainedcompetitiveness comprehensive evaluation, and finally used the selected indexes to compareChina transportation services trade with the other developed countries to see our position inthe international market. The results showed that competitiveness of China’s transportationservices trade improved, but still far behind developed countries. Secondly, based on thedefinition of the degree of opening to the outside world, introduced the opening up course ofour transportation, then according to the openness of the measure formula, measured theopenness of China’s transportation and compared with the other developed countries to see ifour transportation is moderate. The results showed that, the openness of China’s transportsector was excessive, which surpassed the U.S.. Again, this paper, by partial correlationanalysis and built multiple regression model, analyzed the relationship between openness andcompetitiveness of transportation services trade, and examined the result. The results showedthat: openness is the root cause of competitiveness, each openness indicator have differentimpact on competitiveness. Finally, summarized the relationship between of Openness andcompetitiveness of transportation services trade, and based the status of China’s transportsector opening up to the outside world and basic conditions, put forward the path of enhancethe competitiveness of China’s transport.
