The BPM-based Information System Integration In The Beer Industry

With economic globalization and international beer giants’ aggressiveexpansion in China, the competition environment in China beer markethas evolved from a local competition to a global competition. Informationhas become an important strategic foundation for beer companies tosurvive and develop in the fast-changing market conditions. It isparticularly critical for beer companies to get the right information andapply it to strategic decisions. To achieve this goal, beer companies havecontinuously increased the spending on building informationinfrastructure, and deployed multiple information systems to support thecorporate development. The incremental add-on’s due to limited overallplanning at the beginning created lack of cross-check and dataverification, and resulted in multiple duplications and extensive manualwork, which significantly limited the sustained development of theinformation system for beer companies. This paper is built on the deep understanding of the current status of theinformation system structure and the unique demand for informationsystem in the beer industry, and proposed an information systemdevelopment solution for this industry–a BPM (Business ProcessManagement) based information system integration. The BPM platformcould enhance the connection between business process and informationsystem, smooth the process of building up information systeminfrastructure, and increase the operational efficiency of the beercompanies through business process redesign and whole-processmanagement. The information and system integration could also improvethe internal and external user experience, reduce duplication efforts, andincrease operational efficiency and data accuracy.This paper examines the feasibility and effectiveness of this solution witha real case example. It also gives recommendations for the futuredevelopment in information system building for beer companies based on the future development trends of information technology and the beerindustry.
