Based on traditional industrial organization theory, this article reviewed the development process of China's beer industry; used the traditional index and NEIO model to analyze the structure. After qualitative description of enterprises' conduct, this paper showed the performance from profit margins, industry scale and technology progress. Finally, we used related index to describe the competition situation of China beer industry. Based on analysis about the way Industrial Organization affect competitiveness, we tried to figure out the relationship between organization and competitiveness. The aim of this study is to inspect the beer industry's structure using non-traditional index, find out the influence factor of competitiveness from industrial organization aspect and provide guidance for the industry's sustainable development. The main contents of this paper are as follows:The first part is introduction. It includes the research background, research targets & contents, the methods and data resources, technical route and the innovation and deficiency.The second part is the theoretical review and literature review. This article will review the industrial organization theory and the development of industrial competitiveness. On the basis of theoretical study, we sorted the industrial organization and competitive study of domestic & international scholars, by which we got theoretical & methodological guidance.The third part is focus on industry organization research for China beer industry. Reference to the analysis method of industrial organization theory, this research will inspect China beer industry from the structure, conduct and performance. For the structure investigation, this research will use traditional static index and NEIO model to get the Lerner Index to judge the market structure. After the description of conduct, we will use profit, industry scale and technology index to judge its performance. It shows that China's beer industry has enhanced maturity significantly after experienced rapid growth. In recent years, the market situation has preliminary formed after M&A and structure adjust. There exist many brands but no monopoly brand formation. International beer enterprises affect China's beer manufacturing industry through brand & capital output, difference from their formal strategy that share the market by direct investment. Also, it shows that China's beer industry is in oligarchic monopoly market structure; it exist barrier to entry & exit; its market forces is weak, enterprises adjust to the competitive market through different strategies such as price competition, brand competition, advertising strategy, product innovation and structure adjustment; China's beer manufacturing industry has good performance on profit margins and industry scale, but it still exist problems such as unrealized overall industry scale economy and low technology level.The fourth part is the study of China beer manufacturing industry's competitiveness. Reference to related competitiveness index, it analyze the competitiveness from six parts including total competitiveness, market & product competitiveness, capital & technology competitiveness and enterprise competitiveness. It shows that China's beer manufacturing industry scale is expanding constantly; its international competitiveness is increasing. The product quality has a gap compared with foreign products. It has capital competitiveness but low technology advantage compared with foreign beer industry.The fifth part is about the industry organization impact on competitiveness. Based on the organization mechanism on competitiveness, we tentatively use the model to figure out the relationship between organization & competitiveness. It shows that, as a part of industry competitiveness, market performance will be affected by industry structure and conduct. During oligarchic monopoly structure, the oligarchic monopoly enterprises can offer more products with lower prices to achieve the profit accumulation. Economy of scale can bring cost advantage for enterprise and also it can form the entry barrier. By industry enterprise quantity control, it can avoid the resource waste and improve the industry competitiveness. Enterprises with cost advantage can get higher market share, Product differentiation will improve the price and increase the enterprises' profit. Industry concentration, average enterprise size and labor productivity have positive effect on competitiveness.The sixth chapter is conclusions and recommendations. This part will conclude the research contents and results. As for the competitiveness effect factors, we provide policy suggestions for industry development, in order to provide suggestions for the related decision-making department.
