Research & Implement Of Medical Information Exchange Management System Based On HL7

Nowadays many Medical Institutions have basically employed the internal electronic information service system, such as Electronic Clinic, Medical Electronics Business etc.. However, comparing with the usage in many developed countries, in which the inter-hospital medical information service systems have been largely used, significant gap can be identified immediately. To shorten the gap with the developed countries, several tools could be used to integrate medical information resources of Medical Institutions at all levels, and implement the efficient usage of the system. To realize effective sharing of Medical Information, it is necessary to use unified Medical Information Exchange Standard in the process of basic electronic Medical Information, including Electronic Patient Records and the starting point.Medical Information Standard is divided into two major categories: one is Information Standard; the other one is Security Standard. Among the standards of relevant case history, HL7 (Health Level/Seven) is the most familiar object for the medical information industry, which has gradually become the hospital information exchanging standard acknowledged by many countries. Through the information exchange standard’s definition in the application system of Medicine, HL7 simplifies the complexity within the application system; and then, to achieve the principle of sharing the medical resource.The application of HL7 Standard in china is still in the primary research stage, for many years, the medical scientists in sector and information technology all expect a standard protocol of data exchange for medical sector can be generated by the authorized organization. Correspondingly, many applications can be worked out based on the protocol. HL7 is one of the protocols. HL7 is studied deeply in this paper, and put forward standard of medical information exchange system solutions based on HL7.This paper’s lay out as follows:A comprehensive analysis is done about the popular hospital information exchange standards on HL7 internationally, on its Message Format, Communication Protocol, Combined with XML and so on, having investigated the situation of creating medical information exchange system with HL7, pointing out the necessity and urgency about the establishment of these systems.As an example to referral of hospitals, according to HL7, Information Exchange Systems about referral is analyzed and designed using UML Use Case Diagram and Sequence Diagram, including Referral Applications, Turn Recognition, System Configuration, Referral Processing, Messages sending and receiving and so on. The referral model of Medical Information Exchange System based on HL7 is given.Accord to Design of Referral System, and a prototype of Medical Information Exchange System about referral based on HL7 have been achieved, the main operation and demonstration is given.A feature of this design is that the grammar and meaning of HL7 is described and the tag is defined by means of XML (extensible Markup Language). In this study Medical Information in line with standard of HL7 is stored in the form of XML documents, and XML documents will be saved to the database through methods of DOM. On the basis of this database, data exchange and management between systems is realized. From system design perspective, through Use Case Diagram and Sequence Diagram of UML the process of data exchange is analyzed in detail, but it is also one of characteristics.
