The contradiction between the huge demands of wireless communications serviceand the increasing scarcity of spectrum resource makes the inefficiency of the currentspectrum management more obvious. Cognitive radio technology provides a new ideaand direction for solving the problem of spectrum scarcity, by which available licensedband can be intelligently sensed in a real-time way with an effective method and theadditional interference to primary network can be avoided by adaptively adjusting thetransmission parameters. In additions, it can further improve the spectrum efficiencythrough using a highly reliable resource management technology, such that theproblem of spectrum scarcity can be solved.Resource management is the key technology to coordinate the coexistencebetween the primary network and the secondary network and it is a considerable wayto improve the spectrum efficiency. In this paper, the authors first introduce the relatedconcepts of cognitive radio and the last researches, by which resource managementschemes under different network architectures are proposed. Cognitive radio networkwith a single central cell focuses on the power control strategy of homogeneous service,where a novel game model using non-cooperative game theory is designed and theNash Equilibrium is solved by swarm intelligent algorithm. The concept of cell isextended in the distributed architecture and the resource management scheme isstudied through considering the cellular inter-coexistence. Meanwhile, the optimizationmodel of resource management is developed by combining the power control with thespectrum allocation and an exchange mechanism of local information in terms ofToken-Ring is designed to realize resource management in a distributed way. Theservice type and the network scale are further expanded in the heterogeneous cognitivecloud network, which lays stress on cloud management of heterogeneous service underthe large-scale domain. Corresponding resource management scheme is developed byconsidering the index differences of wireless services, thus the inter-coexistence andthe interference avoidance of the large-scale heterogeneous cognitive cloud networkand the primary network can be guaranteed.
