Research Library Issues Of Intellectual Freedom

Intellectual freedom is the expression of the people on the pursuit of freedom inthe field of knowledge. The idea of intellectual freedom plays a guiding role on thedevelopment of library in contemporary social backgroud. As a value, intellectualfreedom not only has its rationality, but also restricted by many factors. The rationalityof intellectual freedom is that the freedom of thought, as a part of human rights, is thetheoretical basis of intellectual freedom, it meets the requirement of library collection,it’s the proper meaning of library right. Limitations of library intellectual freedomconclude two aspects, policy and ethics. On the face of the present situation ofintellectual freedom, to discuss the feasibility condition of intellectual freedom isnecessary. Law, as the tool of coordinating the interests of all parts, is the inevitablechoice on coordinating the relationship between rationality factors and restrictionfactors. Besides, tolerant plural ideological environment and proper socialpsychological atmosphere are important factors in the process that intellectual freedomplays a practial role.
