In the knowledge economy of the21st century, knowledge, as an important productive factor, is playing a key role in effecting the enterprise development in the future days. When an enterprise wants to survive in such a competitive society, the employer must improve his or her knowledge management ability to give full play to knowledge. Many internationally software enterprises have already done a deep research toward knowledge management, and have formed integrated and mature knowledge management applying modes. Nevertheless, our study on knowledge management applying research of small and medium sized companies is still on the phase of immature with many questions.With the proceeding of a software company’s business, a variety of explicit knowledge is saved in many inner accumulated documents; meanwhile implicit knowledge is acquired by employees in the process of accumulating working experience. As the knowledge in documents is usually unstructured and hard to be recognized or extracted, the exploiting rate of document query keeps at a low state, and knowledge cannot practice its actual value, so that employees’personal experience cannot be expressed or shared, and the company cannot solidify the implicit knowledge owned by individuals. As a result, employees’resignation will generate tremendous loss to the company.Hence, firstly, this paper set HT Software Company as an example to analyze the necessity of knowledge management. This paper would analyze the working feature of HT Software Company according to its present management quo and its whole living process of projects, and make a deep analyze on the existed questions from both the objective and subjective point of view aiming at its current management condition, with the purpose of confirming the necessity of knowledge management in HT Software Company.Secondly, this paper analyzes HT Software Company’s knowledge by establishing a four-level-structured knowledge analyzing tree, and by pointing out the methods of "Distribution System of Knowledge Points" and "Distribution System of Know-who" this paper respectively makes out the management on unstructured documents knowledge and implicit interpersonal knowledge, which lay the foundation for further establishing structuralized knowledge base.Finally, establishing knowledge management system of HT Software Company, this paper devises the system through the method of structure. With the IDEFO establishing mode method, this paper respectively builds systematic functional mode, makes demanding analysis on system, puts forward the general object of system, sets up the overall framework, devises structural knowledge base, and makes a detailed designation on each systematic functional mode including knowledge recognition, knowledge searching, knowledge settlement, and public community.This paper makes a deep research on each aspects related to knowledge management of HT Software Company to realize the application of knowledge management of HT Software Company. With a wish to further discuss application mode of knowledge management in domestic small and medium sized companies through this paper’s study.
