Community informatization is a big trend in social development. As a result, the government promulgates a series of policies to promote the quality of information service. For the sake of the great need of the country and society, CHIC and Shandong University proposed a brand-new information system based on "multimedia embedded terminal+network+cloud platform" to offer community residents terminals with low-cost, low consumption, high performance, high reliability and information platforms rich in content.A kind of new multimedia embedded terminal is an important part of the new information system, for it is a bridge between the community residents and the cloud platforms. In recent years, along with the development of Fusion technology, AMD G-series APU shows outstanding performance. The AMD G-series APU has great ability of power control, and for the reason of the integration of CPU and GPU, the performance of multimedia, network as well as the whole terminal is improved further. At the same time, APU supports the OpenCL programming architecture that heterogeneous computing can decrease the time consumption of software drastically. At last, software based on X86architecture and services on the cloud platforms are abundant to meet the various need of the community residents.In this paper, a kind of multimedia embedded terminal based on AMD APU is introduced through three aspects:hardware, software and performance optimization. The Cadence CAD tools is used to design the schematic and PCB of terminals, and according to the AMD G-series APU, AMD FCH M55E chipset and various of peripheral interface, the terminal offers users with great user experience; Ubuntu OS is used in this terminal that support not only the Linux-based software but also the software developed by ourselves by Qt, such as the text editor and the music player; in this paper, an image processing algorithm, the criminisi image inpainting algorithm and a data processing algorithm, the PSO-Kmeans algorithm are introduced to be paralleled and optimized by OpenCL so that a way of terminal used in community informatization optimization has been explored.
