As a new technology, virtual reality technology is now widely used in various fields and is changing all aspects of our life, for example the way people learn, work, and entertainment, etc. At present, the number of China’s real estate developers is increasing quickly, and the style of real estate construction is changing with each passing day. In the real estate development process, what the developers most concerned about is how to sell their property as soon as possible, while for the buyers the most critical aspects are the location, surrounding environment, structure and price of the real estate. The use of virtual reality technology in real estate display system will bring the potential customers an unparalleled live sense of the scene. So that the technology help them make more rapid and accurate purchase decisions, and greatly accelerate the speed of real estate sales.The topics of this thesis are from Chongqing Branch of Great View, and the project name is "Ruian· Chuangyi virtual reality", whose purpose is to use the virtual reality technology to create a real estate display system. We used the3DS MAX software to build the entire main model for the indoor and outdoor structure, and used the plug-rendering and textures to achieve realistic virtual environment. After writing the C++class library, by Visual C++, we then incorporated the main model into OpenGL to re-build the model. We made use of a hierarchical refinement technique to improve the display efficiency. Meanwhile, we also used collision detection technology, three-dimensional scene on a two-dimensional map of tagging and other features to achieve the effect of virtual roaming.In conclusion, in this system we used virtual reality technology to express the real estate. By virtue of this technology we showed the virtual environment of neighboring estate, community appearance and sample room. By the panoramic aerial view, we showed the residential location, and the surrounding environment. By the perspective of landscape node, renderings, plans we introduced vividly the environment within the community. In the sample room, the user can see the transparent three-dimensional full-sized model of the room and different light/dark effects. Finally, the user can random walk along a predetermined route in a virtual room and examined in detail the effect of the room layout and decorative effect by using of the mouse or keyboard.
