With increasingly mature of TD-SCDMA industry, generally TD-SCDMA has already covered all cities above county level in China. In terms of network coverage, TD-SCDMA could act as the basic network, helping to support TD-SCDMA market operator. However, inadequate continuous coverage still exists in some cities, like some shortcomings of division effect on mobile terminals on the data services, poor utilization throughout the country and the low ability of network carrying capacity. Consequently, it is significantly important to analyse and optimise TD-SCDMA for China Mobile Communications Network. In this work, the current network coverage condition in Wulanchabu Jining region has been investigated to find out the inadequate coverage area and blind spot area, such as weak coverage areas, overzone, pilot pollution areas, by in-situ field testing, analysing and simulation. The weak coverage area and blind spot area were mended by the knowledge of TD-SCDMA optimum combined with the effective coverage fact of TD-SCDMA network data services that is currently in application. The engineering parameters of eliminating overzone, pilot pollution, ect. were also calibrated. Thus, reasonable construction programs and optimised programs were proposed for continuous and effective coverage of TD-SCDMA network. The sixth period and second stage of China Mobile TD-SCDMA Network Construction Project, set up new station in the blind spot areas, and modify and optimise the current network resource and engineering parameters of the weak coverage areas in Wulanchabu Jining region. After the project finished, the quality of TD-SCDMA network coverage was obviously improved in this region, increasing from75.2%to95.9%in>-90dBm dense urban region, decreasing from5.4%to0.1%in<-105dBm in urban region (no signal region).
