| A news report always includes5W elements, geographic information is one of it, which is the important way to reflect spatial property. In a long time, it has been studied confined to the theoretical area. In order to solve this situation, this paper introduces a concept named "Geographic Information Expression", trying to sum up general rules from news reports between domestic and foreign network media. Then putting media’s geographic information expression as research goal, making a elementary study on express ways and communication effects in the field of Journalism and Communication.Four outstanding and distinctive network media--Sina, People Daily Online, Yahoo, and USA Today Online are chose as study target. After sample analysis, the author find text is used widely but it also has the most common communication effects; the combined type is better than the single expression way very obversely. This paper also compares the four network media for the use of geographic information expression, then makes a conclusion that there is almost no gap in the kinds of expression ways between domestic and foreign network media. However, on the level of making technology and using, the People Online lags behind others, but Sina does good. During research the author find map visualization has great advantage and represents the development trend of geographic expression.Via comparing the geographic information expression between domestic and foreign network media, this paper proves the important role of diversity, offering some insights and advices for enriching geographic expression in domestic network media reports. |
