Currently traditional analog video surveillance has been replaced by digital network video surveillance, as with a series of excellent advantages, digital video recorder (DVR) has become the core strength in the development of digital network video surveillance. Currently video surveillance system based on DVR has been expanded in various application areas, but there are still many theoretical and technical problems to be solved that obstruct wide application to the current market, the most critical issue is the lack of interoperability between the equipment of different manufacturers.To address the openness issue of surveillance devices, this thesis developed a digital video recorder software platform supporting the SIP protocol. As a signaling control protocol, SIP protocol provides media parameter negotiation, user positioning and other functions, by adding support for SIP protocol in video surveillance equipment, it is possible to form an open exchange of video surveillance systems, thus video surveillance can be performed at anywhere and anytime.The DVR software platform consists of two parts, DVR and monitoring center, as a higher level device, the monitoring center can control DVR via SIP protocol, and as a media server DVR provide surveillance video streaming services to monitoring center. This thesis first describes the function and message format of the SIP protocol, followed by the introduce of the video compression standard H.264, Real-time Transport Protocol RTP, RTSP Real Time Streaming Protocol, then according to the role of DVR in video surveillance system, gives the functional goals of the software, the overall structure of the software design and realization of each module are described; Next, the SIP protocol layer implementation, the video data acquisition, compression and transmission achieve a detailed description; then the realization of record processing related functions is described, including video data storage, local video playback and remote video playback, MP4format package. At last, the thesis explains how to test the software and the result of test.
