Since modern times of China, foreign invasion and stimulation caused much public opinion and social furor time and time again. All kinds of political thoughts and values attempted to look for the reality basis for their own advantages, which is based on those foreign stimulation. The thesis chooses editorials as samples taken from Shun Pao, Ta-Kung Pao and Central Daily. Through analyses of these three newspapers with different backgrounds, trying to find how they be effected by the heated nationalist feeling after September18th Incident, and how they respond and put forward their own political purposes. In these three reference objects, Shun Pao is commercialized folk newspaper. Ta-Kung Pao is folk newspaper discussed of the political independently. Central Daily is the central communist party newspaper of Kuomintang(KMT).Before the September18th Incident, Shun Pao’s editorial columns hardly touched domestic politics. Editorials in Ta-Kung Pao and Central Daily were more involved in politics. After the September18th Incident, Sino-Japanese relations raised as the main topic in these three newspapers. Except for the difference that the discussion about the domestic political reached an another significant topic peak in Shun Pao and Ta-Kung Pao.The occurrence of the September18th Incident not only caused newspaper’s visual field changed, it also created the discursive environment to save the nation from subjugation and ensure its survival. Newspapers of that time expounded their political appeals and discussed domestic political reform vehemently.Shun Pao and Ta-Kung Pao, two folk newspapers, went to two different directions. The former strongly advocated anti-japanese sentiments for immediate, but the latter suggested calm and rational way. On the question of internal affairs, the former called for the KMT to give up political tutelage to be a constitutional government, and then realize people’s democracy. The latter required the KMT to open up the regime, to control the strength of the opposition and to absorb social talents to consolidate the KMT central force. As the KMT’s central communist party newspaper, Central Daily was impacted by the soaring nationalist sentiment after the September18th Incident. Be subjected to KMT’s non-resistance policy, Central Daily was hard to express itself. It also centrally put forward political demands to establish a strong government after January28th Incident.Based on the investigation to the above three newspaper’s editorials, it can be found that the September18th Incident not only reshaped the social public opinion form at that time, also stimulated an upsurge of civil political participation. In the process of participation in political affairs, folk newspapers diverged and the KMT’s party newspaper strengthened competition for the public opinion after setback.
