Reliability test is a necessary process of maturation of a product. Various kinds of defects of products can be found in design, materials and processes. Moreover, it could improve the success rate of product, reduce maintenance costs and make sure the products whether to meet the reliability requirements or not.In view of this situation, we develope a powered temperature cycle test system which is based on VB and PLC. The system made use of VB to develop the user interaction, realize the communication between the PC and the temperature and humidity box by Mscomm and image display and data storage. In data transmission, this paper adopted industrial Ethernet OPC technology to realize the data communication between VB and PLC. What’s more, the test system adds the change of the output voltage so that it could be more comprehensive to test the performance of products. There is no doubt that the the efficiency of the development would be significantly improved. This paper attempts to introduce the host computer system, lower position machine and communication system and how three parts realize their own function. Firstly, we realized the human-computer interaction interface design by MSComm which was based on the general design of the test system. Secondly, we introduce the hardware part of voltage source part and related procedures of PLC and VB. Then we use DeviceXPlorer OPC Server to set the devices’ IP address, port and so on, together with the OPC Client which is made by VB to realize the communication between host system and the lower host system. Finally, we test the electronic samples by this system and analyze the result. Moreover, we summarize the test work and the future applications of powered temperature cycle test system are prospected.The successful development of this system can save much labor power, Material resource, and financial resources. Besides, it can reduce repetitive labor and developing testing software of relevant products, shorten the cycle of developing software, and improve the efficiency of developing software. Thus, research of the design and application of this system have assumed both theoretical significance and practical value.
