IOT is a multidisciplinary technology incorporating radio frequency identification technology (RFID), sensor technology, embedded computing technology, wireless communication technology and distributed information processing technology, and is considered to be one of the technologies of the21st century which have a huge influence. Internet of Things monitoring system for transmission line uses sensor technology and network technology comprehensive monitoring electrical parameters and environmental parameters of the line. When the lines are affected by natural disasters so that staffs can quickly detect and eliminate problems.This paper mainly studies the architecture of the Internet of Things for grid monitoring, sensor node design, routing protocols and monitoring applications and other issues. The main work includes:(1) First, according to the background and needs of the power grid transmission line monitoring system, designed to build architecture of power transmission line monitoring system based Internet of Things technology.(2)For the special needs of wireless sensor network application background, establish model of common nodes, video monitoring nodes and sink node and redesign energy supply modules of the nodes so that it can adapt to the grid environment. Besides, we select the sensors as used.(3) For grid corridors environment, the paper main study routing control algorithms which are suitable for ribbon sensor network, and proposes a data fusion routing control algorithm. In the cluster head node, information collected will be data fused, and it calculate the optimal transmission path to pass out information, save network bandwidth,prevent network congestion, and reduce latency and packet loss rate.(4) In the application layer of Internet of Things architecture, combined with the previously mentioned physical parameters monitoring and video monitoring, accordance with the requirements of monitoring, we program the host computer to display electrical parameters of the current transmission lines in real time, while reflecting the surrounding, and control camera PTZ to turn for multi-angle to achieve all-round monitoring. The subject mainly study Internet of Things monitoring problems for grid transmission lines, according to the characteristics of the application environment of transmission lines. In terms of nodes and routing algorithms designed, according to the special requirements of power transmission lines, we design wireless sensor nodes and ribbon sensor network routing algorithm power for environmental monitoring of power transmission lines to achieve adequate energy sensor network nodes, reduce the packet loss rate, and reduce delay time. Finally, it has the value of certain engineering applications in grid applications.
