| Since entering the21st century, various kinds of new technologies, new equipments andnew thoughts immensely promoted the development and change of media industry. The modeof news production, news dissemination and news reading experienced profound changeunder its influence; traditional information communication technology on news is rapidlybecoming far away from us, thus we have entered a brand new digital communication era. InXinhua News Agency where the author works with, as the state news agency of China, itcontinuously improves news dissemination power, public opinion guiding power, marketcompetitiveness, and international influence for better adapting to the development trend ofnews information dissemination in digitalization era. Xinhua News Agency implementedstrategic transformation in recent years, and one of the transformations was the expansion tomodern multimedia news information business from the production of traditional newsproducts. Multimedia database has become an indispensable and important link of XinhuaNews Agency in transformation.As one of the biggest media institutions in China, this paper carried out analysis anddeconstruction on existing multimedia businesses of Xinhua News Agency, and attempted toexpound on the technical framework and development evolvement of multimedia databasebasing on actual working condition and the learned knowledge. In addition, it designed onemultimedia database management system that can meet actual requirements.In concrete design process, after sufficient research on system requirements and thesupporting conditions of relevant resources, it is finally confirmed to construct c/s systemstructure with same platform taking VS2012as development tool and SQL Server2010asdatabase. Meanwhile, in system architecture, three-layer system structure is applied to makethe call of each layer be more explicit and reasonable, which is also convenient forpost-maintenance.Multimedia data represented by image resources is the core asset of media industry.Meanwhile, the management on multimedia data is one of the important jobs of journalisteach day. A set of searchable, traceable and controllable multimedia data management systemshall exert irreplaceable role.Starting from the angle of users, the designed multimedia database divides multimediadata into three parts: video resources, image resources and audio resources. Moreover, multimedia database is divided into the three functions of resources uploading, resourcesretrieval and resources management as per the characteristics of each part. Every user canupload his/her resources to this system as per classification, mark detailed information toachieve the collection and unified management on resources, and then inquire and change therelevant resources at any time. It can greatly improve the efficiency and accuracy of resourcesutilization, and also share resources to relevant colleagues to maximally achieve resourcessharing.As the state news agency of China and a large media group in the world with80yearsof history, the database business of Xinhua News Agency has gradually become one of itscore jobs embodying its communication power and influence. The development, utilizationand integration of various databases shall play a decisive role in the development of XinhuaNews Agency in new media era. This paper focused on discussing the status of technicaldevelopment evolvement and technical application of multimedia database technology. Inaddition, it designed one multimedia database oriented to frontline collecting and editingstaffs of Xinhua News Agency. The author believes that it can not only check self studyachievements, but also exert significant promotion role on self work. |
