With the rapid development of the Internet, telecommunications and digital technologies, new media channels appear and merge different types of media in the society. Media gradually become interactive, digital multimedia; as a result of, media convergence happen. Media convergence is a long process. General speaking, media convergence means the convergence of all media and related factors. It not only includes the types of media, but also contains media function, communication strategies, ownership, and organization structure. Media convergence begins a period of intense media consolidation, and causes the increasingly competition.The United States is the first country to develop broadcasting. It has established a mature operating system and set up many professional typed radio stations. Some scholars predict that the future trend of radio stations will be localism. Community radio is located in the community to provide services for local residents. Its development can be very useful experience for the future of radio stations. Radio stations in our countries emulate the model of America to build many typed radio stations. The future trend will be similar with the United States.The purpose of this essay is to state the development of media convergence theories, the history and internal structure of American community radio, and the current situation of radio stations in our countries. It sums up the strategies of community radio to deal with the media convergence, think the future development of Chinese radio industry, and explore the way to solve the problems of fragmented audience.
