With the development of electronic technology in various fields, the embedded DSP (Digital Signal Processor) systems have been widely applied to agriculture, machining operation, industrial production, instrumentation, national defense, meteorology and other fields. In image processing, the embedded DSP systems can improve performance of system on which many researchers have focused.In this paper, an embedded DSP systems with a target camera was designed to obtain the area of crop growth, including:1) To build the environment of embedded DSP system and code optimization and transplantation;2) To calculate the image pixels area of crop using the transformation from the image coordinates to the world coordinates;3) To obtain the rule of error about the crop area by fitting the results, with different heights and tilt angles of the camera, and then correct the crop areas obtained.In this paper, twenty groups of simulation experiments were conducted in order to obtain more correct crop area with different tilt angles and heights of camera from the ground, in which the heights of the cameras were set:70cm,80cm,90cm,100cm,110cm respectively; the tilt angles of the camera were taken:15,20,25,30degree, respectively. The experimental results showed that the area error of crop are4.57%,3.79%,5.22%,5.28%, respectively, before correcting error; after correcting error, the error are0.69%,0.25%,2.05%,2.05%, respectively. And the system designed in this paper can be used to obtain more correct growth area of crop.
