In21st century, as the economy and society develop rapidly, ecological problems such as climatic issues and environmental pollution arise frequently and raise a wide attention among the whole world. Hazy weather has arisen in succession in25provinces and more than100large and medium-size cities in our country from2011onward. It covers almost half of China’s territory and becomes the focus of the media. The interests and reports of various media on haze weather provides a lot of efficient information for the public to get information about hazy weather, learn the cause of haze and countermeasures and attend the control and abatement of haze. However, this thesis focuses on the shortage of the media reports and compares the negative influence on our country’s image caused by different ways of reports by media.Due to the difference of medium and news concept, different media take different ways to report the hazy weather. This thesis selects two typical domestic newspapers to compare and analyze from the three levels of news structure:high level structure (the thematic content and selection of report’s viewpoint), medium level structure(formal structure of report) and lower level structure (key words and keynote, way to expression and construction of meaning). After compares from these three levels of report’s structure, this thesis summarizes two newspapers’features of structure in reporting hazy weather and concludes the different narrative modes about the country’s image of the two newspapers: People’Daily’s narrative mode of "a responsible developing country"; Southern Weekly’s mode of "paradox existing with both development and problems".Through analyzing, it is found that our media report the hazy weather after a delay and the contents of the reports are quite tendentious, the effect of the reports is not clear. Therefore, after analyzing the news structure of these two newspapers, the negative influence of country’s image about hazy weather, including excessive attention of official consciousness highlighting the insufficience of government’s executive ability, the public’s overhigh expectation of the government and the report’s missing the vital part, is analyzed comprehensively. About these negative influences, the efficient suggestions of spreading country’s image in the reports of hazy weather are proposed:improving the social responsibility of the reports, caring about the living space; combining normal attention and in-depth reporting; enhancing the scientificalness and specialty of the report; laying stress on the effect of dissemination and leading into the public’s viewpoint.
