Since2010, parts of domestic main video websites began to develop their business in the upper position of industry chain and step into the field of content design. The success of some self-made works attracted more and more video websites, triggering a boom in homemade video mode. However, compared with traditional content production team like TV station, video website is still on the road to exploration. Thus, it’s of realistic and practical significance to have a research of self-made video website content.The self-made video content products refers to those which are created independently by design department; or in the coordinative way through investment and partnership. Such problems like the rapid increase of copyright cost, the deterioration of content homogeneity and the single profit mode jointly with the loss of core competitiveness are stimulations of video websites to make their own products. Positive national policy, abundant production capital as well as bloomy network audience demands also provide feasibilities. Video websites have a relatively mature production process from content planing, producing to distributing and promoting. But recently there are few websites are able to complete the producing process all by itself in China; most of them make use of the partnership mode. According to the characteristics of audiences and viewing terminals, the homemade video productions are divided into fixed terminal ones and mobile terminal ones. Compared with homemade TV content, video websites possess the features including diversification of producers,diversification of produce mode as well ascommunity-based products. After three years, websites have achieved some advancements in the scale of production, professionalization and influence. Nevertheless, owing to the restrictions of subjective and objective conditions, it still surfaces the drawbacks. For example, the lack of uniform standards in the actual process, lax regulation, inadequate innovation, neglect of user experience and the loss of complete industrial chain.Based on the process, mode and characteristics of self made video content products, in addition with the problems above, we are required firstly establish a unified standard of content production and broadcast. Then, we should perfect the control mechanism and promote the differentiations of products with an innovative service concept so as to improve the user experience. At last, we need to deeply involve in the whole production process and build a complete industrial chain, so as to realize the sustainable development of homemade video content products.
