With the rapid development of field bus technology and various industrial Ethernetstandards establishing, traditional motion control system itself is not easy to expand. There isno mutual capacitive, with poor Ethernet communication ability, It does not meet modernmanufacturing development needs any more, network-based motion control technology hasbecome a hot research and development trends. The true real-time industrial Ethernet is usingthe physical frame, rather than the application layer to improve the traditional commercialEthernet up. The mainstream real-time industrial Ethernet technology Ethernet POWERLINK(EPL) network technology, with its high real-time, stability and a variety of synchronizationmechanisms, is very suitable for motion control. With embedded motion control technologyand technology-based FPGA, through the establishment of ETHERNET Powerlink PC-basedcommunications network, analysising the ETHERNET Powerlink protocol mechanismprofoundly, focusing on the research and design of the system’s core hardware and software,in order to build an embedded motion control systems based on ETHERNET Powerlinknetwork.The design process of each module was analysissed detailly, ETHERNET Powerlinkcommunication between stations was achieved, and the SPI communication in slave stationinself, all of them provide a communication infrastructure for the implementation ofapplication-layer control tasks. At the same time, the implementation of all kinds of motioninstruction design provides a variety of motion control function for the system. A kind ofbased on ETHERNET Powerlink multi-axis synchronization method was put forward andsimulation is conducted to the grating ruler feedback signal processing at last.The embedded motion control system platform which was based on ETHERNETPowerlink was set up, with system testing and analysissing, the feasibility of system designwas verified. The result achieves the expected effect. Finally, integrating the currentdevelopment situation, this paper pointed out the problem in the design of motion controlsystem and the further research direction.
