21st century is the century of ocean development. Human beings have entered the large-scale exploitation of marine. With the development of marine industries, the underwater acoustic communication becomes more and more popular. As we know, underwater acoustic channel is a complex channel depending on the time, space and frequency, but most of underwater acoustic communication experiment platforms are based on simulation environment in the labs or pools, which are far from the real channel conditions. As a result, their performance in actual application greatly deviated from expectation of theory and design. In order to further verify the research, researchers have to conduct a series of expensive, complicated, tedious sea trial. This method of research seriously restricts development of underwater acoustic communication.This paper focus on solving disadvantages of traditional sea trial forms. It motivates our interest by integrating distribution nodes in the sea, designing an affordable, accessible and user friendly platform for underwater acoustic communication researchers. Unlike traditional platforms, underwater acoustic communication sea trial platform provides a reliable, real-time as well as low-cost way to improve the efficiency of research.Underwater acoustic communication sea trial platform is composed of server subsystem, wireless communication subsystem and data processing subsystem. Server subsystem which includes website and database provides the following functions:a man-machine interface, equipment information display and location, equipment and experimental data choosing, data management, online chart, etc. Wireless communication subsystem connects with server and realizes the long distance transparent wireless transmission by the monitor software based on Winsock. Data processing subsystem realizes the AD/DA conversion. Transmitter get the digital signal from wireless transmission equipment, then signal will be sent by the power amplifier and acoustic transducer after converting to analog. Alternatively, receiver get the analog signal from acoustic transducer, then the analog signal will be transmitted to server by the wireless transmission module after converting to digital. That is the whole sea trial procedure.This paper research and analysis the disadvantages of traditional underwater acoustic communication experiment platform, propose a new platform based on B/S architecture and which can be remotely controlled, verify the feasibility and reliability of the platform by the closed-loop test and system overall joint debugging. Research conclusion will be provided with theoretical guidance and application prospect.
