With the development of the digital oral cavity planting technique over half a century, it has become one of the important methods to recover missing teeth. The simulating oral cavity planning software systems is the core of the technique, which is different from the traditional Oral planting technology. Through the methods as the segmentation and reconstruction to deal with a set of paralleling2D slices, the related areas can show more intuitively and accurately. Besides, it can simulate the implant surgery to determine the implant parameters. Finally, the corresponding surgery guiding plate is generated. All in all, the technique has the advantages as better security, higher accuracy.The digital oral cavity planting technique is the future trend of oral cavity planting, but China still can t have the ability to develop the simulating oral cavity planning software systems independently. Based on this background, this paper designs and realizes a set of software systems for simulating oral cavity planning. The main contents and achievements are as follows:Firstly, the paper introduces the knowledge of the universal medical image processing system from four aspects. The basic of the medical image, ITK and the medical image segmentation, VTK and the medical image reconstruction and the open source interface FLTK are introduced.Secondly, after the analysis and comparison of some existing open-source software, combined with design requirements of our project, we select the ITK-SNAP software as a software development platform. After building a good software development system, we analysis from functional and class structure for the system detailly. It can lay the foundation of designing and realizing for later functions.Finally, the design and realization of the functions is carried out on the software development platform. The paper focuses on designing the function of the extraction of the teeth and jaw, the curve drawing of the dental arch, the extension of the arch surface, and the simulating dental planting. The function of the extraction of the teeth and jaw is based on the ITK-region growing algorithm to achieve the segmentation of the teeth and jaw in order for observing the oral cavity planning later. The function of the curve drawing of the dental arch is partly based on optimizing the existing Bessel curve algorithm to achieve a smooth curve through all the control points. The arch curve is the basic of the extension of the arch surface, which launches some key comparative analysis of three image interpolation algorithm to obtain better results of surface display. The simulating dental planting technology mainly designs a planning model and event interaction. And it can allow users to add dental implants in a variety of display mode, which can be dragged and rotated arbitrarily until realizing satisfactory results.Above all, the paper has completed a basic functions of the simulating oral cavity planning software to achieve a progress of simulating dental implants.
