A Research On Taiwan Media’s Weibo Usage

February24,2013, KMT Honorary Chairman Lien Chan was invited by Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, to the mainland, which is great after the18th CCP, senior party and government for the first time the two sides met. Since then, relations across the Taiwan straits breakthrough unceasingly. Cross-Strait issue is still one of the most urgent and profound topic on the current national core values of interest issues. More than ever, the signal has released more goodwill between the two sides, but still frequent friction, value is an important factor in the long-term diaphragm, and its elimination depends on building a mutually recognized interactive platform. New media with no historical baggage, very suitable for as a platform for the communication of people on both sides of the Taiwan directly, while the Weibo is the dominant force in new media. On the other hand, the news media plays an increasingly important role in developing cross-Strait relations, enhancing mutual understanding, cultivating emotional identity, promoting the development of cross-Strait relations. Therefore, studying the behavior patterns of Taiwan on the mainland media Weibo, learning how they build Taiwan, mainland and cross-Strait relations situation are significant. This study is less found in academic circles, I believe that this paper has certain innovation.This paper, with@TVBS and@Want Daily as examples, described the Taiwan media Weibo’s contents, theme selections, forms, etc.The research results show that the Taiwan media attaches great importance to the Weibo but not fully used. They didn’t know exactly what is it and the netizens preference, didn’t form its own stable style. Taiwan media Weibo has played a positive role in both sides information communication, enhancing mutual understanding and promoting the development of cross-Strait relations, but in the process of building the picture of both sides, it implied its political stance.
