"Banned" has become a red alert for the Chinese TV drama industry. Once it was raised, a TV drama would be sealed up for a certain or uncertain period. In the academic circle, researchers used to focus on those hot-hit works to investigate the effects of specific works on the general film and TV culture from different perspectives.Since the new century, the public has raised increasing demands for both material culture and spiritual culture with the rapid development of economy. The film and TV art, as a cultural industry closely related to people’s life, also encountered a valuable booming opportunity. However, while more and more TV dramas are produced, this industry has begun to exhibit a trend of quality competition. Based on a large number of banned TV dramas, this paper discusses and analyzes the reasons of "banned" and the impact of the banned phenomenon on the TV industry from multiple perspectives, such as audio-visual experience and humanity. Meanwhile, it also raises a new thinking philosophy to the review system of TV drama.A complete theoretical system should be formed from both positive and negative aspects. Therefore, this paper investigates the TV industry from the negative angle, and conducts a reverse thinking about the impact of this phenomenon on the creation, production, broadcasting and criticism of TV drama. It indicates that the incompleteness of the review system is the root cause of "banned". The significance to investigate the "banned" phenomenon in China will not only promote the development process of TV industry, but also fill the gaps of the theoretical research of TV art in a practical way.
