With the continuous development of information construction in our country, application server based on JAVA EE specification has been used by more and more enterprises to support the application system. With the rapidly expanding scale of enterprise applications and the increasingly complex business logic, the commercial or the open source application server which is based on JAVA EE specification, can not meet the requirements between different business areas and contexts. Therefore, according to its business requirements and characteristics, an enterprise should build its own application server based on JAVA EE specification for special large applications.First, the necessity of building its own application server for the second phase of customs project has been proposed in the thesis, based on the analysis of the background of the second phase of customs project and actuality of commercial or open source application server, as well as the characteristics of the custom project. Secondly, according to the requirements of the customs project, the thesis uses TomEE, an open source project, to realize an application server based on JAVA EE specification.Through modularizing TomEE project, the thesis has optimized its process of startup, request-transfer, deployment, and added basic and advanced features, such as FeatrueSet, configuration management, monitoring framework and so on. Finally, the thesis presents the technical scheme and implementation of development tools and a web-based management console.Proved through the implementation of the prototype, which is the application server based on TomEE, can meet the demand of the second phase of customs project. And the method and process of reconstructing an open souce project based on TomEE in the thesis has strong universality and practical implications, not only for independent development, but also for large-scale enterprise’s choice of application server.
