Nowadays, blue laser which has been extensively used in the field of high density optical data storage, laser entertainment, medical treatment, laser multicolor display, laser communication and so on. The research of the blue laser has become one of the most popular topics.This paper reviews the background of the solid state laser and the application of the blue laser, then summarizes the current state of the research on488nm blue laser. The theory given in this paper to quasi-three-level laser transition and four-level laser transition are completed. Then this paper analyzes three wave mixing theory and the phase-matching principle. This thesis gives a new method to obtain488nm blue laser which uses one LD to pump Nd:YVO4crystal and Nd:YLF crystal simultaneously. Blue laser is obtained by using a double cavity, mixing at914nm and1047nm, type-I critical phase matching with LBO crystal sum-frequency mixing. We obtained a continuous wave output power of517mW at488nm. The efficiency improves greatly compared with the previously experiments. The optical-to-optical efficiency is up to1.81%. The power stability in30minutes is better thanĀ±3.7%.
