In this thesis, the theoretic and experimental study on laser diode(LD) end-pumped Nd:YVO4 cw 914nm laser were investigated. Regarding 914nm as fundamental wave, by using LBO as intracavity frequency doubling crystal, the second-harmonic of 457nm laser generated.Diode-pumped solid-state laser has been paid more attention for its advantages. Green, red, blue and ultraviolet solid-state lasers have attracted many scientists. Blue laser is very valuable for military,communication,high-density optical storage, information, colorful display of laser, colorful printing and biochemistry. In recent years more and more attention has been given to solid-state blue laser, but its development is more slow than green, red all-solid-state laser. For this technical difficulty in all-solid-state blue laser, we join the research line , hoping to present some useful exploration. In this thesis , the inverted population of 914nm had been calculated from rate equation of quasi-three-level laser system, then, the 914nm Nd:YVO4 laser system was theoretically studied and the threshold , output power and slope efficiency were numerical calculated and simulated. Attributes of three nonlinear crystals have been summarized. Their optical parameters related to frequency-doubling efficiency were presented and compared. Here we emphasized the LBO crystal and it have been calculated and analyzed. Finally, we set up a linear resonator for intracavity frequency-doubling blue laser experiment according to the above quasi-three-level theories as well as analysis and comparison of necessary apparatus. When the pump current was 10A , 9.7mW stability 457nm laser was achieved , with the output power fluctuation of less than 2% and the efficiency of optic-optic was 0.2%, the threshold was only 4A.
