Measurement And Application Of Double Sheet Cascade Microchannel Plate

Two-piece cascaded Microchannel Plates (MCP) refer to using two Microchannel Plates as a multiplier module. The structure of two-piece cascaded MCPs has many obVious advantages, such as high gain and small dark current. It has become increasingly the core unit of optoelectronic deVices. This paper completed the research of performance testing methods of two-piece cascaded MCPs and the development of Microchannel Plate-Photomultiplier Tubes(MCP-PMTs) static performance test system.First, this paper elaborates working principle and evaluation parameters of single MCP and two-piece cascaded MCPs, on the basis of existing MCP noise test system, brings forward the testing scheme of the performance of two-piece cascaded MCPs. We designed a special test fixture and realized the gain test. Using the assembly of two-piece cascaded MCPs and fluorescent screen, we conVerted output current to optical signal. Using a Photomultiplier Tube to collect optical signal, we achieVed the output SNR after signal processing. For two-piece cascaded MCPs with different angles、Voltages and filament current, we designed multiple sets of experiments to obserVe the phenomenon that performance parameters change when angles、Voltages or filament current changes. We analyzed the data and gaVe out the result. Second, this paper analyzes working principle of MCP-PMT, studies structure of inside two-piece cascaded MCPs. designs MCP-PMT static performance test systems. We haVc designed and developed light source、integrating sphere、opaque box、high Voltage power system、photocurrent tester and other hardware in the testing system. We used VS2005to complete the design of data acquisition and processing software. Finally, we debugged the test system. Using the system, we conducted performance testing for domestic8inch MCP-PMT and got test results. The results showed that the testing system can be well worked on MCP-PMTs for performance evaluation.
