The new generation of airborne active phase array radar has the ability to control how much the time on target and how long the sample time. It also has multiple work modes with multiple functions, and has the ability to track maneuvering target. All the features require a higher tracking algorithm and complex tracking software system’s design.This paper researches some engineering application problems to improve the system tracking performace based on the characteristic of airborne fire control radar. The irborne active phase array radar requires more function development and performance improvement for multiple targets tracking (MTT).This paper research some key problems of airborne active phase array radar’s MTT system.Data association is one of the most difficulties problems in MTT. The typical data association methods are as follows:nearest neighbour (NN), global nearest neighbour (GNN), joint probabilistic data association (JPDA) and multiple hypothesis tracking (MHT).This paper first introduce the theories and analyze the characteristics of the above data association methods.Maneuvering target tracking is another difficulty for airborne active phase array radar. With the improvement of weapon equipment, the fighter’s maneuvering ability is greatly improved. The advaced tactics increase the randomicity, single model can hardly to adapt the maneuvering dynamic. This paper analyzes some common tracking models and their characteristics. Some classical nonlinear filters are enumerated, and we also do simulations to prove their performance.In the MTT situation, the airborne active phase array radar can handle multiple tasks based on their priorities. In other words, it can assign the resources reasonably. We propose an adaptive resource assign technique based on expected signal to noise and predicted covariance to improve the efficiency of single target tracking. This technique minimize the resources of the time and energy when the targe is tacked steady with a certain precision.Finally, this paper accomplishes a new target tracking design based on the researches for the above key probems. The new tracking method take IMMPDAF inder mixture coordinate as main filter. The filter estimates the range-velocity, azimuth and elevation respectively. In track management, we use the XX table to devide the subarea. After that, we propose a new track management technique under cluster based on track survival probability which reduces the quantity of false track. The new track method can also track the target with zero Doppler velocity with static multiple modes which obtains great performance under test event.
