Research On The Image Of Women In The Social News Chutian Metropolis Daily

With the continuous development of the feminist movement in Western society, women’s recognition is gradually awakening. In the sixties and seventies of the20th century,With the expansion of mass communication theory in the global academic sphere, a new research field-Feminist Media appears. After the1995World Conference on Women, the studies on feminist media began to reach China, and then became a new study field. In general, among all kinds of news, female image enjoys a relatively high frequency of appearing in the social news, which can better reflect the problems existing in the society.This paper focuses on female images appearing in social news of Chutian Metropolis Daily, captures certain periods of the newspapers. With the use of content analysis and text analysis on selected samples, the paper hopes to capture the female images presented in social news of Chutian Metropolis Daily and to analyze whether the image is real, comprehensive and whether "gender-stereotyped prejudices " exists or not.Through Specific analysis of the selected texts describing the five female age groups: kid girls, maiden girls, young girls, middle-aged and the elderly, we can understand the female image of all ages in Chutian Metropolis Daily.Then, the paper makes an analysis of female gender roles and gender temperament of the women samples, it found that female images portrayed in Chutian Metropolis Daily tend to be stereotype and inflexible.Shortly thereafter, the paper makes an analysis of the detailed manifestation of female’s stereotype and inflexibility in Chutian Metropolis Daily and it reflects the awareness of gender equality to some extent.Finally, it makes an in-depth analysis of the underlying causes behind the media image of women, and puts forward several feasible suggestions. It expects that the media can reflect the true images of women from a Feminist Perspective and to report it as a positive force in social development.
