The rapid development of high-tech and faster update speed of knowledge resulted inthe high-speed development of knowledge management and application technology. Withthe using of CAD technology in industry, the original manual operation mode has beenchanged and the production efficiency has been improved. However, the lack ofexperience of young designers may cause inefficient and unsatisfactory design.Researches show that the old experts can carry out the high level design because of solidtheoretical foundation of knowledge and rich practical experience accumulated in work formany years. But these experience may lost with the expert’s retiring or resignation,therefore the young designers have to accumulate experience during a long exploration tocomplete the work and the quality and efficiency of design may be supposed to beinfluenced by that. In the textile printing and dyeing industry, the utilizing andmanagement of knowledge is facing the same problem. Though the use of color separationsoftware can reduce the designer’s manual labor to some extent, the young color staff cannot complete the design tasks perfectly because of a lack of experience. The traininginvestment for the new employee may also increase the burden on enterprises, anddecrease the economic efficiency of enterprises.To resolve the above problems, an active knowledge support system for printingcolor was proposed and created. The system can judge the knowledge level and defect andknowledge requirement of the color staffs via knowledge detection function, provideactive knowledge support for designers by using push and pull technology, providepersonalized and appropriate knowledge to the people who need them, realize efficientexpert experience knowledge utilization, transmission and sharing. Therefore, theknowledge pre-study burden for designers and design cost can be decreased, and thequality and efficiency of design and the market competitiveness of enterprises can beenhanced. The system is developed in B/S mode. A clear man-machine interface wasestablished and the human-computer interaction is realized via the webpage browser, eachapplication module can be accessed in the form of navigation. The system also has thefunctions like knowledge exchange and sharing forum that can provide designers overallknowledge services at the first time. In constructing the system, the relational databasetechnology was adopted to achieve the construction of knowledge base and concept design,logic structure design and physical design were completed, and the storage of knowledge was completed by gathering and arranging lots of experience of color experts to constructthe base.In the design process, the system can forwardly offer the experience knowledge tousers to accomplish the design fast using the knowledge instead of studying theknowledge, and the product design cycle was shortened, the pressure of shrtage of talentfor enterprise was released, and more economic benefit was brought. The practicality ofthe system was verified with Jin chang EX9000intelligent printing design software as theplatform.
