Research And Application Of Data Warehouse Metadata Management Technology

Data warehouse technology is based on a database developed from a new generation of information management technology, mainly used to support enterprise information integration, data mining, business decision-making applications. Data warehouse system to integrate a variety of software tools to enable them to complement each other, work together. Metadata is data about data, it is linked to all the process of building data warehouses and tools to use, thus, metadata is the heart and soul of data warehousing. Effective metadata management, exchange and application of data warehouse project is the key to success.The data warehouse environment studied in this thesis with characters of warehouse data stored,lots historical data accumulated and metadata lacking of unified management,ect.Based on the existing metadata structure and technical integration system analysis, and combined with the research background environment, this thesis has designed and implementated a suitable metadata integrated solutions. It puts forward the solutions based on the model of the central radial metadata system structure, choosing CWM metamodel for the model, metadata exchange mechanism using CWM interface to the adapter of indirect way conversion, the realization of metadata management platform using the popular layered structure mode. As a united concentration of metadata management platform providing the functions include metadata model maintenance,metadata storage,metadata version control,metadata acquisition, metadata import/export,metadata front display,data analysis and metadata security,etc.This thesis first introduces the data warehouse metadata related concepts and management situation and stressing on the discussion of fromulating metadata integration solutions(DWMM) for specific data warehouse environment,it also introduces the realization of DWMM solution management platform,finally DWMM solutions are given in the application of developing securities registration and settlement data warehouse system, it proves the feasibility and availability of DWMM solutions,and also points out the insufficiency and the prospect of further.
