Microstrip antennas have been applied to more and more fields because of their ease in integration, low price and good stability and consistency. This thesis introduces my research in microstrip antennas, especially in automotive anti-collision radar antennas, lens-array antennas and automotive GSM/3G antennas. I have improved the performance of these antennas.I will introduce a4*14automotive anti-collision microstrip array antenna which can realize100°beam scanning at24GHz. This design takes advantage of pattern synthesis of antenna array using genetic algorithm to inform the design lobe. And the results of simulation and tests are excellent.Chapter3will introduce a lens-array in which only one type of element is used, and360°ariation of the phase of S21with|S21|>-2dB can be obtained. This single beam lens-array gained20.61dB at24.125GHz and the total efficiency of41.8%is achieved for the lens aperture. On this basis, I designed a multi-beams lens-array with264elements which can obtain23.72dB, the back lobe is7.46dB, the highest sidelobe is6.67dB, the3-dB beamwidth is about7.3°in the E-plane and10.78°in the H-plane.At the end of this thesis, an automotive GSM/3G antenna is introduced. The VSWR of this antenna is less than2in the operating frequency and it has omnidirectional radiation.
