Because synthetic aperture microwave radiometer needs many unit antennas, the optimization of unit antenna is a demanded problem to research. Microstrip antenna is made up of radiation patches pasted on the medium base patch with metal board, it is very light, of low volume and of small dispersion area, designed in array very easily, and feedback line and matching network can be made with it in one board, so in this paper, we mainly discuss microstrip antenna as the synthetic aperture microwave radiometer's antenna incept system.In this paper, firstly, we introduce the basic theory of rectangle microstrip antenna and circular microstrip antenna. Then, according to the theory formula, the unit dimension of the rectangle and circular microstrip antenna, the location of the feedback line and the dimension of the feedback line are calculated. After that, we get the elementary antenna diagram which basically satisfies the target of system after a Layout diagram is designed and emulated in the ADS software system of Aglient company. Because the designs in this paper are mostly based on the parameter values from the calculation by the formula in theory, a little error exists inevitably and some targets are not reached, the matching diagram are designed in the Schematic after transformed from Layout diagram and optimized according to the Layout diagram, and this process needs to be repeated many times, till to get a more reasonable antenna design circuit diagram. Meanwhile we get the final emulational result of the antennas'different performance parameters. Lastly, the resonance frequency error is given by analyzing the formula in theory, and compared with the data from the ADS software emulation system. Through the compare, the designed microstrip antenna circuit diagram proved to basically satisfy the need of system. Besides, we compare the two designed 1.4GHz frequency microstrip antennas'different performance parameters.For the design of higher frequency antenna, slot antenna is introduced. In this paper, a 8mm waveguide slot antenna is analyzed theoretically and designed briefly to get some related result for future research.
