H.264/AVC is an excellent video standard.Compared with the old standard, it can provide high-quality video at lower bandwidth. Also, it does not add much complexity and makes implementation easy and costs are not too high. However, development of mobile video codec business based on H.264/AVC technology still faces many problems and challenges. Firstly this thesis introduces the H.264/AVC technology development at home and abroad as well as its excellent technical characteristics in all. Secondly, the comparison of H.264/AVC coding principle is given based on the coding and decoding structure. Thirdly, from the features of the coded macro block itself and correlation, the fast intra prediction coding problems is considered. Starting from macro block own characteristics, the intra prediction mode selection convert characterization and measurement problems macro block flatness, and the simulation results show the effectiveness of the algorithm. Fourthly, it is considered that the inter prediction mode distribution of non-equilibrium. Making full use of coding mode between temporal and spatial correlation, it is to achieve a quick judgment inter mode, and minimizing the computational overhead due to the anticipation.
