914nm direct pumping mode can effectively reduce Nd:YVO4laser quantum defect, improve the quantum efficiency and the slope efficiency, reduce the threshold power. This paper study of914nm pumped Nd:YVO4laser slope efficiency and the threshold power from the theoretical and experimental, the main content is divided into the follow three parts:1. Through the914nm directly pumped Nd:YVO4laser rate equation and end pumped solid laser theory, consider the output of laser thermal effect in the laser material, give the related parameters and the threshold power and slope efficiency of the relationship.2. Through the theoretical calculation, obtained crystals optimum doping concentration and optimum length and output mirror optimum transmittance by laser, combination of end-pumped Nd:YVO4laser thermal lens resonator parameters, optimization, in a plane-plane cavity structure, theoretical simulation of laser output characteristics.3. On the basis of the theory, set the914nm directly pumped Nd:YVO4laser experimental device. When the crystal doping concentration is2.5-at.%and the crystal length is3mm×3mm×3.5mm, get the slope efficiency is80.3%and the threshold power is154mW. Under the same conditions,808nm traditional pump and880nm direct pump obtain the slope efficiency is54.1%and74.5%, the threshold power is212mW and184mW.
