In recent years, the level of enterprise information technology has been increased rapidly, the daily production, business management all have been in the high information level. But the information level of query, which has the closest relationship with customer, is relatively backward. Daily information management is just a data production function, how to show data to customer effectively is the real indicator to measure the level of information systems. At the same time, the rapid development of technology and Internet has greatly changed people’s query habits. As data volumes continue to accumulate, the semantic information stored in the database also increased gradually. It’s particularly important to find a way to use semantic information effectively. Recently, most companies offer customers query functions in a way based on string matching and keyword matching. This string match pattern is simple and clear, but it also has a lower recall rate, requires customers to have higher level, and its query content is fixed.In order to improve the status of relational database query and also meet users’ diversity demand, this article combined relational database’s original keyword query mode with ontology technology and semantic technology. Firstly, this article analyzed the ontology technology and semantic technology. Secondly, built a ontology based semantic expansion model. And on this basis, it built the semantic query model of relational database, analyzed the implementation ways of the model’s main parts, such as natural language segmentation module and the semantic expansion reasoning module. The article also analyzed the real customer demands of Financial Parts of Guangzhou Port Corporation, and built a small domain ontology based semantic query system of financial data. This article applied the ontology and semantic technology into relational database query, analyzed the query expansion methods of relational database. It meets the real business needs and also has certain significance to the development of relational database’s query function.
